Giving Tuesday: Celebrating the Spirit of Generosity

by Shawn Crowle

Giving Tuesday is a global day of generosity that takes place every year after the consumer frenzy of Black Friday and Cyber Monday. It’s a day dedicated to giving back and supporting the causes and organizations that make a positive impact on our communities. Whether it’s donating money, volunteering time, or simply sharing awareness, Giving Tuesday encourages everyone to do something good for others.

When is Giving Tuesday?

This year, Giving Tuesday took place on December 3, 2024. It was a day to pause and reflect on the year while contributing to the causes that matter most to us.

This History of Giving Tuesday in Canada

Giving Tuesday was first established in the United States in 2012 by a group of charitable organizations and leaders and I quickly spread around the globe, including here in Canada where it has gained significant momentum over the years.

Canadians have embraced the spirit of Giving Tuesday by supporting local charities, local businesses, and community initiatives. The day has become a vital part of the giving season, helping non-profits and community partners rally support for their programs and missions.

Camrose Energy and Giving Tuesday: In Our Community For Our Community.

At Camrose Energy, we proudly celebrated Giving Tuesday by continuing our commitment to making a difference right here at home. Through our Community Partner Program, we support a wide range of local organizations and initiatives that help build a stronger, more vibrant community. Here are a couple examples of recent donations we’ve made to try and help make this holiday season a little brighter:

  • The Bailey Theatre – A Cultural Treasure for Camrose: We’re excited to share that Camrose Energy recently donated $3,500 to The Bailey Theatre, a beloved local landmark. This donation will help cover utility costs, ensuring that this historic venue can continue offering the community incredible performances and memorable experiences. The Bailey Theatre, which has stood since 1911, is the oldest operating Vaudeville Theatre in Western Canada. It’s more than just a place for performances—it’s a gathering spot for all generations to come together and create memories. We’re honored to support such an iconic part of Camrose’s cultural heritage, and we look forward to many more performances that unite our community.

  • The BEST Foundation – Empowering Future Generations: We’re excited to share that Camrose Energy recently donated $3,500 to The Bailey Theatre, a beloved local landmark.
