WHY CHOOSE CAMROSE ENERGY FOR YOUR NATURAL GAS IN ALBERTA?

NATURAL GAS MADE SIMPLE

Camrose Energy offers natural gas service across most of Alberta, with clear pricing and real people in Camrose who are here to answer your questions.

You can choose a guaranteed rate if you like knowing what to expect, a discounted rate with a refundable prudential if you’re looking for extra savings, or a variable flow through rate that follows the market each month.

You can also bundle your natural gas and electricity together. This keeps your utility billing simpler and lets you use one monthly admin fee instead of separate ones.

In Alberta, you’ve got a choice when it comes to your natural gas retailer. Our job is to make that choice easier, with local support, clear answers, and no pressure.

HOW FLEXIBLE ARE CAMROSE ENERGY'S NATURAL GAS PLANS?

Very flexible. You can pick the plan that fits your home, farm, or small business right now, and change later if something else makes more sense.

If you like steady bills and easier budgeting, a guaranteed rate may be a good fit. If you want the lowest available price and you’re okay with a refundable prudential, a discounted rate may work better. If you want month to month flexibility with no prudential, the variable rate may be the right choice.

If you’re not sure which option fits best, call our Camrose office. We’ll walk you through it and help you compare your natural gas options in a way that actually makes sense for Alberta homes, farms, and businesses.

UNDERSTANDING YOUR RATE OPTIONS

WHICH NATURAL GAS RATE TYPE IS RIGHT FOR YOU?

VARIABLE RATE

A variable natural gas rate follows the market price each month. That means the cost of the gas itself can move up or down depending on the market. Camrose Energy’s administration fee stays the same at $8.25, so even when natural gas prices change, you’ll still know what the service charge on your bill will be.

GUARANTEED RATE

A guaranteed natural gas rate gives you a set price per GJ, which can make your bills easier to plan for. It’s a good fit if you like stability and don’t want your natural gas rate moving up and down with the market.

DISCOUNTED RATE

Our discounted natural gas rate gives you a lower price per GJ when you provide a refundable prudential. That deposit helps bring the transaction fee down to just $0.35 per GJ, which can make this a strong option if you’re looking to save on natural gas for your Alberta home, farm, or business.

SHOULD I CHOOSE A GUARANTEED OR VARIABLE NATURAL GAS RATE?

Both options can make sense, depending on what you’re looking for. The guaranteed rate gives you more stability, while the variable rate has offered more savings over the past year.

The variable rate does move up and down each month, but Alberta natural gas prices have still stayed well below the guaranteed rate of $3.99 per GJ.

Over the last 12 months, the highest variable rate, before transaction fees, was $3.70 per GJ in December 2025. The lowest was $1.32 per GJ in September 2025, and the average was only $2.45 per GJ. That’s quite a bit lower than the guaranteed plan.

If you’re okay with your rate changing a little from month to month, the variable rate can be a strong long term choice. If you’d rather know exactly what your rate will be, the guaranteed rate is still a good option for steady billing.

WHAT IS A PRUDENTIAL?

Alberta electricity and natural gas retailers have to pay prudential charges to help guarantee payment to energy generators and distribution utilities.

To help keep some rates lower, Camrose Energy may ask for a refundable prudential deposit on certain discounted plans. This deposit helps cover those industry costs and lets us offer a lower transaction fee of $0.35 per GJ.

We’ll explain the amount before you sign up, so you know what it is and how it works. When the plan ends, or when the terms are met, the deposit can be returned to you or credited to your account.
