ALBERTA NATURAL GAS RATES WITH FRIENDLY, LOCAL SERVICE

NATURAL GAS MADE SIMPLE

Camrose Energy offers natural gas service across most of Alberta, with clear pricing and friendly help from our local Camrose team. We’ll explain the choices and help you find a plan that fits your home, farm, or small business.

You can choose a guaranteed rate if you like knowing what to expect each month. You can also choose a discounted rate with a refundable prudential or a variable rate that follows the natural gas market.

Natural gas and electricity can be bundled together on one bill. This keeps things simpler and means you’ll pay one monthly administration fee instead of separate fees for each service.

Most Albertans can choose their natural gas retailer. Our job is to make that choice easier with clear answers, local support, and no pressure.

FLEXIBLE NATURAL GAS PLANS

You can choose the plan that works for you today and change later if another option makes more sense. A guaranteed rate gives you a steady price, while a variable rate moves with the market.

Discounted plans offer lower pricing when you provide a refundable prudential. If you’d rather avoid a deposit, base guaranteed and variable plans are also available.

If you’re unsure where to start, call our Camrose office. We’ll compare the choices and explain them in plain language, so you can pick what works for your home, farm, or business.

UNDERSTANDING YOUR RATE OPTIONS

WHICH NATURAL GAS RATE TYPE IS RIGHT FOR YOU?

VARIABLE RATE

A variable natural gas rate follows the market and can change each month. This means the cost of the gas itself may go up or down depending on what’s happening in the market.

The base variable rate is the market price plus a $0.65 per GJ transaction fee and doesn’t require a prudential. The discounted variable rate is the market price plus a lower $0.35 per GJ transaction fee and requires a refundable prudential.

Camrose Energy’s monthly administration fee stays at $8.25 per metered site. Even when the natural gas price changes, you’ll still know what the monthly service fee will be.

GUARANTEED RATE

A guaranteed rate gives you a set price for each gigajoule of natural gas. The price stays the same for the selected term, which can make budgeting easier during colder months.

The base guaranteed rate is $3.99 per GJ and doesn’t require a prudential. This option may be a good fit if you want steady pricing without paying a deposit.

DISCOUNTED RATE

Discounted rates offer a lower price when you provide a refundable prudential. The discounted guaranteed rate is $3.65 per GJ, while the discounted variable rate lowers the transaction fee from $0.65 to $0.35 per GJ. These plans may work well if you’re comfortable paying the deposit to get a lower rate. We’ll explain the prudential amount and return terms before you sign up.

CHOOSING BETWEEN GUARANTEED AND VARIABLE RATES

Both rate types can make sense. A guaranteed rate gives you more certainty, while a variable rate may cost less when Alberta natural gas market prices are low. During the recent 12-month period shown on this page, the market price before transaction fees ranged from $1.32 to $3.70 per GJ. The average was about $2.45 per GJ before the transaction fee was added. This made the average variable rate lower than the guaranteed rate during that period. Variable prices can still rise or fall from one month to the next. If you’re comfortable with those changes, a variable rate may be worth considering. If you’d rather know your rate ahead of time, a guaranteed plan may feel like a better fit.

UNDERSTANDING THE PRUDENTIAL DEPOSIT

Alberta electricity and natural gas retailers need to provide financial security for payments made to energy producers and distribution companies. A prudential deposit helps Camrose Energy cover part of that requirement and offer lower rates on certain plans.

Your prudential is fully refundable when the plan ends or the required terms are met. It may also be added to your account as a credit. We’ll explain the amount and return terms before you sign up, so you’ll know how it works.

SIMPLE WAYS TO LOWER YOUR NATURAL GAS BILL

Start by choosing a plan that fits how much natural gas you use and how comfortable you are with changing prices. A discounted or variable rate may lower the gas portion of your bill, but it’s still important to compare the full plan.

Better insulation, sealed windows and doors, and careful thermostat settings can also reduce how much natural gas your property uses. Looking over your winter bills can help you spot when your usage is highest.

You can compare current natural gas options using the Utilities Consumer Advocate Cost Comparison Tool. You can also send us a recent bill, and our Camrose team will help you understand the charges and compare your choices.

LOCAL HELP FROM OUR CAMROSE TEAM

READY TO SWITCH YOUR NATURAL GAS TO CAMROSE ENERGY?

Choose your plan, have your Site ID nearby, and call our Camrose office at (780) 781-4115. We’ll handle the transfer and keep you updated. Your natural gas service won’t be interrupted while the switch is completed.

You can also sign up online whenever it’s convenient. If you’re still unsure which plan to choose, contact us and we’ll help you compare them.

WHAT IS A SITE ID AND WHY DO I NEED IT FOR SIGN UP?

Your Site ID is a 13-digit number that uniquely identifies the electricity or natural gas service location for your Alberta home, farm, or business. You’ll need this number to switch to Camrose Energy so we can connect your new electricity, natural gas, or Solar Club™ plan to the correct meter.

If you can’t find the Site ID on an existing bill, simply enter your address and town in our easy lookup tool to retrieve it.
