Our Base Rate is our standard guaranteed rate, with no limitations or stipulations (on approved credit). Prudentials (similar to deposits) allow for discounted rates.

WHAT IS A PRUDENTIAL?

A prudential is one time deposit into our Prudential account which allows us to keep our rates lower and continue to save you money on your electricity bill.  You will earn 5% interest per annum on this investment which is credited monthly toward your Camrose Energy bill, and the prudential is fully refundable should you choose to leave Camrose Energy.

Electricity and Natural Gas retailers in Alberta are required to pay a prudential charge to guarantee payment to the generators for the cost of energy a consumer uses and the distribution utilities for delivery charges.

HOW MUCH IS THE PRUDENTIAL?

The amount of the prudential on electricity is dependent on your household consumption, with the average residential prudential falling between $200-300.

At Camrose Energy, we work with you to find the option best suited to your household with no pressure, no contracts, no hidden fees and no penalties for switching between rates. 

Our monthly electricity Administration Fee for new customers is just $7.25/month. At any point you can switch between our rates, with 10 days notice.

MARKET VOLATILITY

We are currently seeing periods of massive volatility within the Electricity Market. We see prices the highest they have been since deregulation. Some of these factors include moving away from cheap coal generation to natural gas, increased carbon levy, removing of PPA (Power Purchase Agreements). We are expecting volatile pricing for the next two years.

Fortunately, our multi-year guaranteed rates will see you through this transition and provide pricing stability and peace of mind to your household.

VARIABLE ELECTRICITY RATES

Camrose Energy Variable rate is determined by the cost of the spot market of electricity. This is a 30-day average, as the rates change hourly. We then add our transaction fee of $0.77 to that price to determine the variable rate.

There was a reason why we signed up with Camrose Energy because the other company we were with was not local and we were talking to people over the phone from other countries. Some of those people could not understand the problem we were having with our bill and we were getting frustrated, to say the least. They are a local company and very easy to just call without a long waiting time or send them an email and they always respond back promptly . Even if there was a problem, they do a great job in rectifying the problem as soon as possible.

When we installed solar panels two summers ago we switched our utilities to Camrose Energy. It has been wonderful to speak with caring knowledgeable people at the office. Camrose Energy offer a superb program for micro generators. In the peak solar season I can switch over to a contract that enables me to sell the power for a premium price.
