ALBERTA ELECTRICITY RATES MATCHED WITH FRIENDLY LOCAL SERVICE

YOUR ELECTRICITY, YOUR CHOICE

Most Albertans can choose which company supplies their electricity. You don’t have to stay on the default rate if another plan works better for your home, farm, or business.

Camrose Energy offers electricity service across most of Alberta. You can choose the steady price of a guaranteed rate, the possible savings of a variable rate, or a Solar Club® plan if you produce solar power.

Our Camrose-based team will help you compare your choices and understand what you’re signing up for. We’re locally owned, and we believe more of your energy dollars should stay connected to the Alberta communities where we all live and work.

THE SAME LOCAL SERVICE ACROSS ALBERTA

Our name may be Camrose Energy but we serve homes, farms, and businesses across most of Alberta.  Some municipalities and Rural Electrification Associations have their own service rules, so electricity provider choices can depend on where you live.

When you call us you can talk with Denise, Maurina, or Cameron.  We’ll explain the rates, answer your questions, and help with the switch. It doesn’t matter if you live nearby or several hours away, we’ll still treat you like a neighbour.

Camrose Energy also supports local events, community groups, and Alberta causes. Supplying electricity and natural gas is part of what we do, but being involved in the places we serve matters to us too.

UNDERSTANDING YOUR RATE OPTIONS

COMPARE ELECTRICITY RATE TYPES AND FIND THE BEST FIT

Camrose Energy offers several ways to buy electricity for your home, farm or business.

GUARANTEED & DISCOUNTED RATES

A guaranteed rate gives you a set price per kilowatt-hour for the chosen term. This makes budgeting easier because the energy rate won’t move with the market. Discounted rates offer a lower price with a fully refundable prudential deposit.

VARIABLE RATE

A variable rate follows the electricity market and may sometimes be lower than a guaranteed rate. The price can also rise when the market changes, so it won’t offer the same level of certainty. With RateRewind™, you’ll receive a rate update before billing. If the market price starts climbing, you can switch to a guaranteed rate and apply the change back to your last meter read.

RATE OF LAST RESORT

The RoLR is the government-regulated default electricity rate for customers who haven’t selected another retailer. It’s reviewed every two years and is currently higher than the Camrose Energy guaranteed and discounted rates listed on this page.

WHAT IS THE RATE OF LAST RESORT (RoLR)?

The Rate of Last Resort, or RoLR, is Alberta’s fixed electricity rate for customers who haven’t picked a competitive electricity retailer. It replaced the old Regulated Rate Option, also called the RRO, on January 1, 2025.

Instead of changing every month like the old RRO did, the RoLR stays the same for two years at a time. After those two years, the Alberta Utilities Commission reviews it and approves the next rate. That new rate can only go up or down by up to 10 percent at the end of the term.

With Camrose Energy, you’ve got choices outside of the RoLR. Our guaranteed rate and variable rate options give you more control, clearer pricing, and a chance to avoid paying more than you need to.

If you’re wondering how your current electricity rate compares to the RoLR, our Camrose team can walk you through today’s options and help you see what makes the most sense for your home, farm, or business.

COMPARE YOUR CURRENT ELECTRICITY BILL

If you’re not sure what rate you’re paying, send us or bring in a recent Alberta electricity bill. Our team will compare the rates and explain where the different costs are coming from. We’ll be honest about whether switching can save you money.

SIMPLE WAYS TO LOWER YOUR ELECTRICITY COSTS

Moving from the RoLR to a lower guaranteed or discounted plan may help reduce the energy portion of your bill. Using energy-efficient appliances and cutting unnecessary electricity use can also help. If you produce solar power, Solar Club® gives you seasonal rate choices and credits for extra electricity sent to the grid. Our team can explain how it works and whether it fits your solar system.

UNDERSTANDING THE PRUDENTIAL DEPOSIT

A prudential is a fully refundable security deposit that may be required with a discounted electricity plan. It helps protect against missed payments and allows us to offer a lower electricity rate. As long as your account stays in good standing, the prudential is returned when the plan ends. You can also choose to use it as a credit toward future bills. Our team will explain the amount, how it works, and when you’ll get it back before you sign up.

READY TO SWITCH YOUR ELECTRICITY TO CAMROSE ENERGY?

Switching is quick, free, and handled by real people right here in Camrose, Alberta. Compare rates online or give us a call at (780) 781-4115 to talk with Denise, Maurina, or Cameron today.

WHAT IS A SITE ID AND WHY DO I NEED IT FOR SIGN UP?

Your Site ID is a 13 digit number that shows the electricity or natural gas service location for your Alberta home, farm, or business.

You’ll need this number when you switch to Camrose Energy. It helps us make sure your new electricity, natural gas, or Solar Club® plan is connected to the right meter.

You can usually find your Site ID on your current utility bill. If you don’t have it handy, you can use our lookup tool by entering your address and town.
