Camrose Energy is a locally owned, Alberta-run utility retailer. We supply electricity and natural gas and support solar micro-generators through the Solar Club. WHO WE ARE.
Camrose Energy is proud to be a Community Retailer licensed through Utility Net and Partners under Service Alberta. Our role goes far beyond selling electricity and natural gas—we help Albertans understand their bills, compare rate options, and find the plan that best fits their home, farm, or business.
What makes us different is our personal approach. We sit down face-to-face with customers in Camrose and across Alberta to answer questions, explain the Solar Clubâ„¢, and guide them through choices that larger utility companies often overlook. By making the utility industry more personal, accessible, and local, we give customers confidence and peace of mind while also giving back to the community we call home.
HOW WE GOT HERE.
Our journey started with curiosity and a solar project. When Russell explored installing solar panels for his family home, it sparked a vision to bring more choice and local service to Alberta’s energy market. That vision grew into Camrose Energy, officially launched in October 2012. By January 2013, we were licensed to sell retail electricity, and in 2016 we expanded to provide natural gas—serving not only Camrose but communities across much of Alberta, including customers in rural REAs.
As our customer base grew, we moved from a home office to a dedicated downtown Camrose location in 2017, making it easier to serve Albertans face-to-face. Along the way, our commitment to community and sustainability has been recognized:
- 2016 – Home-Based Business of the Year, Camrose & District Chamber of Commerce
- 2019 – Small Business of the Year, Camrose & District Chamber of Commerce
- 2020 – Business OTIS (Outstanding in Stewardship) Award, Battle River Watershed Alliance, plus a nomination for Small Business Excellence at the Alberta Business Awards of Distinction.
