Empowering a brighter future

Let's build community.

Local strength. Provincial Reach.

At Camrose Energy, we truly believe in the power of our local community. That’s why we dedicate a portion of our profits through our Community Connections Program to support local events and initiatives that improve the well-being of our neighborhoods.

We offer quarterly sponsorships for initiatives that reflect Camrose Energy’s commitment to community connection and support.  If you are part of an organization or event focused on building community – whether it’s bringing people together, helping those in need, or enhancing your local area – we invite you to apply.

To be eligible for funding, please submit your application three months prior to your event in order to allow time for processing. Remember, each organization can receive only one sponsorship per calendar year, which allows us to support a wide range of initiatives.

Powering our community, together.

EXPANDING OUR IMPACT

The evolution of The Community Partner Program.

Since the beginning, our Community Partner Program has been at the heart of our mission, fostering deeper connections with our customers and strengthening relationships within our community. As Camrose Energy has expanded, so has our vision for community support. We are excited to share that this program has transformed into the Community Connections Program, enabling us to broaden our impact and positively influence communities beyond Camrose.

With the Community Connections Program, you’re not just a customer – you’re playing a vital role in uplifting and supporting significant local events and initiatives. We’re eager to enhance our impact, and you can rest assured that our original community partners will continue to receive the funding they have always enjoyed since you chose them. Their steadfast commitment to their missions inspires us every day.

As our network of communities grows, so does our dedication to promoting positive change. Together, we are making a genuine impact in the places we hold dear as home.

Community Connections in Action

The Community Connections Program has already made a meaningful impact, supporting events and resources that bring people together and celebrate local culture.

Thanks to this program, a new community projector is making movie magic in Rosalind, creating memories and fostering connections for residents in the area.

We’re also proud to sponsor the Flagstaff Scottish Club’s Gathering of the Clans Highland Festival in Sedgewick, Alberta.  This vibrant event features traditional highland activities, including heavy events, highland dancing, festival entertainers, a kids zone, artisan and food vendors, and more. The festival culminates in a lively Cèilidh (dance) with a live band, offering a joyful end to a day filled with community spirit. Through initiatives like these, the Community Connections Program helps us bring people together and support the heart of our communities.

The Solar Synergy Program

Powering Non-Profits with Sunshine.

If you choose the Solar Synergy Program as your Community Partner, the donated 10% portion of your bill will go to help non-profits put solar on their roof! In either in the form of grants or subsidies. Solar Synergy is Part of Camrose Energy, and Camrose Energy will distribute funds. We are working toward helping to build environmentally and economically sustainable means for the organizations. We are so excited about the changes that this will bring!

Habitat for Humanity
Solar Project

We are extremely proud to have partnered with Solar Harvest to provide ReStore Camrose with solar panels and installation. We were able to pay for the entirety of the solar system through a combination of our Community Partner Program and a government grant which existed at the time and the installation was generously donated by Solar Harvest.

The first phase saved Habitat for Humanity Camrose 60% of their yearly electricity costs, allowing them to put that money toward helping local families. The second phase has the system producing as much as the organization uses for energy on a yearly basis.

Our Past Community Partners

We are forever proud and grateful to have been able to partner with these fantastic organizations and witness the great work they’ve done.

The Shelter was actually started by the Business and Professional Women’s Club who were approached by the hospital, RCMP and Social Services to find a way to assist the growing number of women in the area facing physical abuse.

A fundraising drive began in 1981. In 1983 the building project started and Camrose Women’s Shelter Society (CWSS) has been providing shelter and services for women and children fleeing abuse since. Camrose Women’s Shelter provides a safe, supportive place for women and children fleeing domestic violence, or experiencing a crisis or homelessness. The shelter provides services to clients in the greater Camrose area and operates on a 24/7 basis. Over the years, the emergency shelter has offered 22 beds within 7 separate bedrooms with only minimal variation in capacity. Though the emergency shelter is located in Camrose, it serves a much larger geographic area and a total population of approximately 127,000 people. On average, about 400 women and children walk through the doors every year and about 1300 crisis calls. Beyond provision of basic needs, like food, personal hygiene items and accommodations, CWSS provides supportive counselling, referrals, safety planning and information about domestic violence and life skills groups. Women and children are supported with their personal goals and connected with other community organizations as needed. In addition to the shelter services, CWSS offers the following programs:

  • A crisis line available 24/7 and provides emotional support, safety planning, advocacy and referrals.
  • An Outreach Program to assist women transition from the emergency shelter into the community.
  • A Family Support Program that provides a wide range of emotional, educational and informative supports regarding the effects of family violence on children.
  • An on-site School Program that provides classroom instruction that is consistent with Alberta Education curriculum while tailored to a child’s academic ability.
  • An on-site licensed day care which provides age appropriate activities for children during there stay.

Habitat for Humanity Camrose builds decent, simple, and affordable homes in partnership with families and the community. Habitat Camrose was formed in 1996 and to date they have built 24 homes. Habitat homes are built with, not for, the hardworking families who purchase them at market value. Families contribute 500 hours of “sweat equity” by helping us build their own homes and well as homes for other families. Families who qualify for the affordable homeownership program pay for their homes with a combination of low and no-interest mortgages. Habitat allows families who could not otherwise qualify for a mortgage to own their own home and break the cycle of poverty through homeownership. Restore covers all the administrative costs, so that 100% of donations to Habitat Camrose go directly toward building homes.

The Battle River Watershed Alliance is a non-profit organization based out of Camrose dedicated to preserving and enhancing the land and water of this region. They recognize the interconnection between healthy landscapes, resilient communities, and a stable economy and work towards all aspects of sustainability. The BRWA has three main areas that they focus in: Watershed Management, Watershed Engagement, and Watershed Stewardship. They work with community members, including landowners, governments, residents, and decision makers, to collect data, make plans, and take action to improve the health of our watersheds. In short, they connect people to a place for action. Camrose Energy customers have supported the BRWA’s education programs for a number of years. In 2020/2021, the Camrose Energy funding helped the BRWA conduct water quality sampling at Battle Lake, the headwaters of the Battle River. Staff collected information about water depth, temperature, oxygen levels, nutrient levels, and more. This data is collected and compared across Alberta lakes and over years to ensure our lake’s health. They are grateful to Camrose Energy customers who choose to give back through the Community Partner program.
